Commish III~ Dreams at dusk by IrisDesert Commish III~ Dreams at dusk by IrisDesert
The last of the series for :iconcynder-dragon-spyro:!
I'm still feeling a bit indecisive on the lighting, but it's really late and a bed with my puppy and fuzzy large stuffed animals is calling UvU

Now enjoy Mina passed out on Videri's back as he flies through the evening set,
her dreams warmed by the sun's last light.

Sorry it took so long ;w;

Mina belongs to :iconcynder-dragon-spyro:
Videri is owned by :icon4-elements-dragon:

You said you weren't sure about the lighting, so I'll try to get to that first. To me, it looks amazing. The purple shadow that covers the character is realistic since the light is orange or yellow, similar to that of a sunrise/sunset. The intensity of the shadows is perfect, too; it matches the setting and the intensity of the light, and the characters aren't invisible, as they could be in a dark setting like this. One question that came to my mind when I looked at this was "reflected light?", but I'm new to this color and light theory stuff, so I don't know for sure how it would come into play with such a setting, or whether it would at all. I do see some where the clouds in the middle-ground merge into the background, and I really like how that burst of brightness gives a sense of space.

I think you did particularly well on the clouds, and the highlights on the characters. Being made of water, clouds absorb and reflect light oddly, but they way you added an edge of highlight and texture on the top and then deepened the colors worked well. I also like how you varied the color of the clouds slightly in the darker parts to show their depth. The highlight on the edge of the flying dragon's wing and body, and the vague lightness of its face, also fit well.

This work conveys the ideas of dreams and dusk well with the relaxed poses and expressions of the characters, and the dark setting through which you can see just a little sunlight starting to shine into the area. It's hard to be original with dragons because they have been drawn so many times before, but I enjoyed seeing these characters' emotions as strongly as a person's, and the idea of one dragon carrying another carefully while flying so high is exhilarating, yet so adorable. It looks like you're very good with digital media; everything appears to be painted or drawn confidently, and with the detail and realism you achieved, especially in the background, I can tell you know how to use the tools available to you. Even seeing the thumbnail of this work was surprising, and the full view practically blew my mind with how well everything was executed. Seeing such detailed drawings is amazing, but I don't know what kind of encouragement to give you other than keep up the stunning work.
